Snoop Dogg‘s concert in Costa Rica was canceled just a few days after the organizer assured fans that it would go ahead as planned, despite the artist’s arrest in connection with a money-laundering case.

Stockwell Entretenimiento announced that the concert scheduled for December 3 at the Pedregal event center in Belén had been canceled. The company stated that it had reached an amicable agreement with Snoop and promised automatic refunds, though it did not specify the reason for the cancellation or the date by which fans would be reimbursed.

Just four days earlier, the same team had confirmed the date and stated that it was still working on organizing the concert. Tickets had been sold through Publitickets.

The company’s owner, Don Stockwell, was arrested on October 7 and released the following morning in connection with the “Éxodo” case. He has denied any wrongdoing and remains under investigation since his release.

Police said they were investigating allegations that a group had used money from drug sales to finance past concerts. Michael Soto, an official with the country’s Judicial Investigation Agency, stated that the artists who performed at those concerts had no connection to the case.

Mr. Soto indicated that approximately $859,000 had been paid to fund three events linked to Stockwell and his fellow producer Hugo Barboza. Police were seeking to determine whether these concerts had been used to launder money from alleged drug sales to make it appear as legal income.

Police established a link between this money and a group they believe was led by Edwin Vargas García, known as “Sobrino.” Mr. Soto clarified that these events took place in 2024 and 2025, prior to the Snoop concert scheduled for December.

Stockwell’s attorney, Daniel Brenes, stated that his client had collaborated with Barboza, who found people to finance the concerts. He added that Stockwell was unaware that the man introduced to him as Edwin had been arrested in a drug case.

In addition, Brenes told CRHoy that the prosecutor handling the case had informed him of his intention to request that Stockwell be held in pretrial detention. The hearing was still underway at the time Brenes spoke, and he clarified that the request had not yet been formally made.

“Ticket refunds will be processed automatically, in accordance with current Costa Rican law,” the company stated in its press release in Spanish.

Stockwell Entretenimiento has not announced a rescheduled date for Snoop’s concert.
